Highlights

HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE PAST WEEK :)

1. Using our FREE tickets to the Bulls game!

*We discovered we both get super distracted by the vendors haha

2. Studying at the China House's all you can eat buffet

3. Having a fashion show to choose Lauren's interview outfit

4. Getting Starbuck's (multiple times)

*I forgot that I had TWO gift cards there!!

5. Receiving a letter from friend who is TOOOOOO far away!

*Also, loved getting to talk with her so much this week  :):)

6. Getting to go home on Saturday to see my family

*Nate won his hockey game 11-1

*Playing outside in the sun with Teddy

*Late night ice cream & brownie run with Mom

7. Advice from my mother:

"Why are you stressed? God is control of everything."

*Such simple phrases, but it seriously helped give me a fresh perspective

8. Great conversation with Jimmy on our ride up

& fun singing/dancing on the ride back

*Also, he doesn't have sunglasses so he had to borrow mine.

He might kill me for posting this...but I love him :)

GOAL FOR THIS NEXT WEEK:

DON'T STRESS OVER ALL MY WORK & KEEP A POSITIVE ATTITUDE!

A Good Day

Well it's no secret that medsurg is NOT where I desire to be. I always feel incompetent and the environment tends to be chaotic.

However yesterday at clinical was such a good reminder that God needs us to serve in every area (even the ones we dread) and that he will bring us joy if we trust in Him.

What brought this on you may ask?

1. My nurse was a phenomenal teacher and so patient with me.

2. I GOT TO START AN IV!!!! AHHH :)
(Hint: this is every third track nursing student's dream)

3. I am finally starting to learn the meanings of lab values and apply them to my patients' medical problems.
(Makes me feel slightly more competent haha)

4. I actually felt like I made a difference for my patient.

5. The bible verse of the day...

"Keep on loving one another as brothers and sisters. Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it." -Hebrews 13:1-2

Glass Half Full

It is sad to think about how much of my life I spend studying at the library these days.

HOWEVER the library has some perks...

1. The obnoxious carpet prevents you from falling asleep (usually haha).

2. I have access to the purified water (employee benefits woo woo!)

3. It prevents you from being distracted by marathons of the office on Netflix

4. My boyfriend is the security guard ;)

5. There are great sunset views :)

Today was the day!

Upon returning to school this past fall, we discovered that there was a FIESTA CANCUN opening in Dekalb! In case you have never heard of this restraunt, it is amazing. It is an authentic mexican restraunt that is super cheap, super fast, and SUPER GOOD! Week after week we would drive by hoping it would be open, but it never was :(

BUT THEN, when I came back this semester I discovered it was FINALLY open!!! HOORAYYYYY!!!!! I am ashamed to say that it has taken me three weeks to get there due to my hectic schedule. But it was worth the wait. Oh my, was it good!
